Virgin Group plans terminal project at PortMiami

Editor’s Note: Virgin Group earlier this month announced the purchase of a minority stake in All Aboard Florida’s Brightline, resulting in the 2019 rebranding of Brightline to Virgin Trains USA. Now, Virgin Group is announcing a major investment at PortMiami, near the southern terminus of Brightline at MiamiCentral Station. Virgin Voyages, headquartered in nearby Plantation, is also building new cruise ships which will be home-ported at PortMiami. London-based Virgin Group plans to build a terminal at PortMiami for Plantation-based Virgin Voyages.

The 10,000-square-foot terminal would be on the northwest side of the port. Construction would start next year and is expected to be completed by November 2021, depending on whether the Board of County Commissioners approves the project in the next two weeks.
