The New York City money pit: Is it too late to save a few billion on East Side Access plans? Let’s find out

The scrapped 15-month closure of the L train tunnel, originally set to start this month, revealed the MTA and its contractors to be all too willing to press ahead with bloated megaprojects rather than figuring out how to build infrastructure in ways that take less time, disrupt fewer passengers and cost less money.

So belated cheers — very, very belated — to Gov. Cuomo for ordering a similar outside review of the East Side Access project.
