North Carolina: Weldon Amtrak station plans continue rolling along

Proceeding with the plan to bring an Amtrak station to Weldon, the Peanut Belt Rural Planning Organization, RPO, has taken it upon itself to apply to the U.S. Department of Transportation for funding.

Halifax County officials met with RPO members earlier this month, and the organization’s technical advisory committee unanimously agreed on the decision. The RPO will apply for the Infrastructure For Rebuilding America grant or INFRA, which closes its application acceptance on Nov. 2.
