New Jersey Transit to cancel some trains to catch up on required PTC safety system

Facing increasing difficulty meeting a year-end deadline to install a collision-avoidance system, NJ Transit plans to discontinue some trains through the beginning of 2019.

The changes, which will begin on June 4, are aimed at accelerating the installation of positive train control equipment on NJ Transit’s locomotives and cab-control cars.
