New York City: MTA tossing overnight subway station cleaning crews in favor of post-rush hour station sweeps

The MTA is nixing its overnight cleaning crews — part of what it claims is part of a smarter strategy for tackling the trash blamed for transit-snarling track fires.

Crews will instead be assigned to shifts after the morning and evening rush, when garbage is piled highest.
