New Jersey Transit’s entire system is breaking down at an alarming rate

NJ Transit trains broke down more in 2017 than they did in 2016, according to the agency’s data, and are running fewer miles between failures than trains on the Long Island Rail Road or Metro North.

NJ Transit’s buses and its largest light rail system also did worse than in 2016 for distance traveled before equipment broke down.
