Kansas column: Here’s argument for subsidizing Amtrak

People who complain about the government subsidy for Amtrak remind me of the boy who killed his parents then threw himself on the mercy of the court because he was an orphan.

Some naysayers argue there is no need for passenger rail service because it doesn’t run everywhere they want to go; whereas airlines and highways do.
