After a rough patch that included Monorail Red driving with the doors open, a piece falling off Monorail Blue and nearly hitting guests, and Monorail Teal having numerous issues resulting in unprecedented downtime, it now looks like Disney leadership finally realizes how dire the monorail situation truly is. 
With 12 trains to replace and numerous other upgrades to the system, this will be one of the largest investments in transportation at Walt Disney World since the last monorail update in 1989, which saw the introduction of the Mark VI trains that are still in use.
