Fort Madison, Iowa moves ahead with Amtrak depot project

FORT MADISON — The Fort Madison City Council on Monday approved Mayor Brad Randolph’s signature on three agreements regarding a $1.2 million project 10 years in the making to move the Amtrak passenger pick-up and drop-off platform to the newly-restored historic train depot downtown.

The first agreement commits the city to construct a new train platform, explained City Manager David Varley. It includes information about what the city has done so far, such as raising the historic depot, and designs for the new platform.
