El Paso, Texas streetcars make their return after 45-year absence

With that distinct sound streetcar bell — Ding-Ding! — El Paso’s streetcars made their official return to the streets of Downtown on Friday afternoon after a 45-year absence. 

Invited guests, city officials, and El Pasoans watched as four of the five streetcars currently in the fleet made their way around a corner from Santa Fe Street onto Franklin Avenue and came to a stop on the Red Carpet in front of the stage were members of City Council and Mayor Dee Margo sat along with other VIPs.
