Chairman Bill Shuster unveils his big infrastructure vision

PICTURE IT: The year is 2028. The 33.4-cent gas tax is about to disappear and a new system of per-mile road fees, 10 years in the making, are about to come into effect. The Highway Trust Fund is finally on a course toward sustainability. Infrastructure projects speed through an efficient federal permitting process and lightning-fast environmental approvals. It’s Rep. Bill Shuster’s infrastructure vision, come to life, at least according to a draft he released Monday evening.
