Central Florida: Frustrations intensify over SunRail-to-DeLand delay

DELAND — For Volusia County officials, SunRail has become a train that carries commuters and, thus far, a lot of empty promises.

The commuter-rail line that debuted in 2014 is expected to expand into Osceola County next summer. That second phase was, at one time, also supposed to include a new station in DeLand, for which the original contract pledged a 50-percent federal funding contribution to the $77 million cost.
