Salinas >> A long-sought Transportation Agency for Monterey County project aimed at bringing commuter train service to Monterey County from Silicon Valley has received a $10 million boost in SB 1 state gas tax funding, and the complicated project now expects to begin construction by next spring.
Late last month, the state Transportation Agency awarded TAMC the $10 million for the first phase of the $136.7 million Salinas Rail extension project, adding certain amenities including mandated “positive train control” or automatic braking.
