California: Iowa Pacific fails to pay Santa Cruz transportation commission, denies rumors

SANTA CRUZ >> Iowa Pacific Holdings, the railroad operator contracted to use the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line, is not paying what it owes the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission, despite repeated promises that the money is coming soon.

The Chicago-based company is now more than $53,800 in debt to the local commission, with outstanding bills dating to March. The debts are unpaid royalties from the Polar Express holiday train and fees for the storage of rail cars in Watsonville.
