Amtrak has reached an agreement with the union representing 500 of its Riverside employees that offers relocation allowances to move to the East Coast or severance packages for those who don’t, the rail company said Friday in a statement.
The deal came after about three weeks of negotiations between Amtrak and leaders of the Transportation Communications Union. The call center in Riverside is scheduled to close on Jan. 18 and workers there are being offered jobs at Amtrak’s other call center in Philadelphia.
