Last month the biggest players in public transportation convened to shed light on the complications afflicting America’s infrastructure. Not surprisingly, the nation’s antiquated transit systems took center stage.
With Americans taking 10.4 billion trips on buses, subways, high rails and trolleys each year, public transportation is the backbone of our nation’s cities. But pull back the curtain and you’ll see that much of the equipment is decades past its expected lifespan. The New York metro area is littered with examples.
