6 reportedly dead after Amtrak train derails onto I-5 near DuPont, Washington

At least six people are reported dead after an Amtrak train on its inaugural run derailed onto Interstate 5 Monday morning, spilling train cars onto the freeway near Mounts Road and blocking the southbound lanes of the artery between Thurston and Pierce counties.

The train departed from Tacoma and crashed about 7:30 a.m. Monday. First responders are treating this as a mass casualty incident.
