As Roanoke Amtrak riders know, there’s about a foot of space between the edge of boarding platform and the train. This is a small matter, perhaps, but not to rail officials.
The platform gap can’t be too great to step across, nor so slight as to cause rubbing. It must be just right, which explains why some fine-tuning is occurring this week.
