The possibility of a passenger rail line linking Eau Claire with the Twin Cities has been discussed for years, and supporters of a recent private initiative said Thursday they believe it is gaining momentum and moving closer to happening.
A plan proposed by the West Central Wisconsin Rail Coalition to establish passenger rail service that would connect Eau Claire with the Twin Cities initially — and possibly with other Midwestern destinations later — could be feasible, according to presenters at an event at The Metro in downtown Eau Claire to discuss the topic.
