With so many conflicts roiling our city, state and country, it’s easy to overlook one.
But a dispute that’s getting less attention than it should has potentially serious implications for the local economy. Union Pacific railroad and public transit agency Metra are sniping at each other in a court fight centered on the crown jewel of the area’s transportation infrastructure—commuter rail service connecting suburbia with downtown Chicago.
