KEARNY – Crews will break ground Friday on the Portal Bridge Project in the town of Kearny that aims to resolve delays for NJ Transit trains.
For those who ride the Northeast Corridor, it’s often because a century-old bridge over the Hackensack River in Kearny is stuck. The old swing bridge can get caught in the open position, delaying train traffic on the Northeast Corridor line.
