A locomotive pulling 12 train cars derailed Wednesday evening at the base of Sewanee Mountain, requiring CSX Transportation Inc. to build a special road to the site to clean up the wreckage.
No injuries occurred.
The train was carrying soybean meal and lumber, and no hazardous materials were present other than the locomotive’s diesel fuel, according to Mike Bell, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office patrol captain.
