Shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, several cars of a CSX train derailed near Lilesville, North Carolina, about 60 miles southeast of Charlotte, CSX confirmed. A hazmat team responded, and a road was closed near the accident; it is not yet clear if a hazmat release occurred.
Counties surrounding Anson County, where the incident occurred, were under flash food warnings at the time, and officials reported that the track was washed out, according to local media.
