MIDDLEBORO — Representatives from the state Department of Transportation and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority visited the Board of Selectmen Jan. 7 to discuss ongoing problems with carcinogenic diesel exhaust emissions emanating from CSX’s idling trains at the rail yard on Station Street and spilling into nearby neighborhoods.
Richard Colon, government and public affairs director for MassDOT, appeared with executive-level administrators from MBTA and MassDOT’s Transit & Rail Services to discuss short- and long-term solutions to the problem, which has affected several neighborhoods over the last several years.
