Texas transportation officials are poised to approve $600,000 to study a rail line connecting Freeport and Rosenberg, which Fort Bend officials have said is critical to corral cargo and move it without grinding local highways to a halt.
The money, $480,000 from state funds aimed at state highway planning and another $120,000 from state development credits available to the Houston region, is awaiting approval from the Texas Transportation Commission. The five-member board meets Thursday.
