LET ‘EM GO: Thune on Tuesday railed against Senate Democrats for standing in the way of agency confirmations, like that of Heidi King. “For months, Democrats have blocked the nomination of Heidi King to be the administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,” he said on the floor. “While she has shepherded the agency in an acting capacity, she has been denied the full weight and authority of a Senate-confirmed leader.” Thune also mentioned nominations to the Surface Transportation Board and Amtrak’s board of directors. Commerce advanced King’s nomination along party lines in June.
