Joe Fratesi and Steve Butland remember what could have been if the Huron Central Railway put on the brakes and ceased operations in 2009.
But as a result of a significant effort led by the city’s former CAO, a stakeholder task force was successful in getting senior levels of government to commit to funding that improved the infrastructure and allowed the short-line freight operator to continue chugging along between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury.
