It’s 6:32 a.m. on a brisk morning, as I travel aboard Amtrak’s Regional Train #86 heading from Richmond to Alexandria for work.
I wear many hats, but to everyone I am an unabashed passenger railroad advocate. While I work in the tech sector for a fruit-named company, I also spent some time working at Amtrak, creating what we now know as the Amtrak mobile apps for conductors and passengers. I also served as the chairman for the MARC Riders Advisory Council. I became intimately familiar with the modern traveler’s wants and needs, what Amtrak and its partner states (like Virginia) can provide, where those interests intersect, and where they do not intersect.
