The wheels are turning on a complicated development deal in Atlanta that could lead to the move of Norfolk Southern’s headquarters there. As they do, Norfolk Mayor Kenny Alexander is preparing to lay out a case for why the railroad would be better off staying put.
In a meeting today with company chairman, president and CEO James Squires, Alexander said he won’t be bringing any incentives from the state or his city at this point, but rather will be “responding to what I understand to be the rationale” of Norfolk Southern – one of only three Fortune 500 companies based in Hampton Roads.
