On the day Atlanta officially lost its bid for Amazon’s HQ2, another Fortune 500 headquarters was preparing to roll into town.
Rail giant Norfolk Southern Corp. (NYSE: NSC) could see construction on its $575 million Midtown headquarters start as early as next summer, and it could occupy the project in 2021, a company executive told Atlanta economic development officials Tuesday. A Norfolk Southern team is working with Atlanta real estate company Cousins Properties Inc. to design the new headquarters building, Patti Carroll, assistant vice president of real estate with the transportation company, told members of the Invest Atlanta finance committee.
