Gov. Larry Hogan‘s administration is committing an additional $56 million as part of an application for a federal grant to assist with reconstructing the Howard Street Tunnel.
The state has been trying for several years to secure funding for a project that would reconfigure the Howard Street to allow for double-stacking of shipping containers to and from the Port of Baltimore. Hogan’s administration in the application submitted Monday requests $238 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation to aid with the $466 million project.
