A large chunk of work is coming to the Fort Worth facility of General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) as the company has received orders for 225 locomotive modernizations this year, GE announced Tuesday.
A modernization is the process of taking an old locomotive and updating various components so it runs more efficiently and stays on the track longer. GE started modernizing locomotives in 2015 after the market suffered a downturn and railways weren’t buying new locomotives.
