Better late than never. It didn’t happen until the final week of the legislative session, but the Colorado General Assembly did include $2.5 million in funding for the Southwest Chief and Front Range Rail Commission.
The commission is exploring how to get Amtrak passenger service extended from Trinidad to Pueblo as well as a separate rail service that could run from Trinidad north through Pueblo en route to the Colorado Springs and Denver metro areas and on to Fort Collins.
