BNSF is the first U.S. Class I (and the second overall) to respond to the Surface Transportation Board’s March 16 blanket letter requesting information on each railroad’s 2018 service outlook.
In a March 22 letter to STB Chairman Ann Begeman and Vice Chairman Deb Miller, BNSF President and CEO Carl Ice said that employee efforts and record “focused” capital investments have enables the railroad to “respond to increasing volumes with generally strong service performance across our railroad. We have faced seasonal challenges to service performance in 2018, but we have seen recent improvements as winter conditions abate and we expect that momentum to continue.”
