WILLMAR — After over five years of meetings, plans and agreements, construction on the Willmar Rail Connector and Industrial Access project, better known as the Willmar Wye, is set to begin this year.
According to a news release from the state Department of Transportation, the first step in the construction project will be the removal of scrub trees, brush and stumps in the construction zone. This work should begin in early April. Road construction should begin once the ground thaws.
