THE New South Wales (NSW) government has announced that work on upgrading Sydney’s iconic Central station and landmark Central Walk will begin immediately following the award of a $A 955m ($US 745m) contract to Laing O’Rourke to transform Sydney’s busiest station.
NSW minister for transport and infrastructure Mr Andrew Constance says the upgrade represents the biggest improvement to the station in decades and will make it easier for passengers to interchange between the expanded light rail network, suburban and inter-city trains, and the new Sydney Metro currently under construction.
