A CSX train transporting hazardous materials derailed in Lakeland early Monday morning, causing molten sulfur leak.
Firefighters in Polk County are investigating the crash, which caused approximately nine train cars to derail in the area of Kathleen and Strickland roads. Crews responding to a medical call observed several train cars rolled over and mangled, according to Polk County Fire Rescue.
