While the Department of Transportation waits for the state to fund construction of four new train stations along the Hartford Line, towns like Enfield are already planning for a mass transit future.
New stations can cost between $50 million and $100 million and often require partnerships with local developers. Instead of waiting for the state to allocate that money, Enfield wants to get a jump-start by building a standalone platform at the station’s site.
