The roughly 40 railcars blocking an international tunnel joining Port Huron and Sarnia, Ontario, have been removed after a derailment more than a week ago resulted in a 13,700-gallon sulfuric acid spill and halted trade through the major Michigan cargo passage.
Remaining freight cars and debris were removed by around 2:30 Friday afternoon, St. Clair County said in a news release. The cars left the tracks in the St. Clair Tunnel early the previous Friday morning, June 28.
