With bags packed and ticket in hand, Gabriella Jauch waited for the Southwest Chief to roll into Mendota’s Amtrak station.
The former Spring Valley resident — now living in Ames, Iowa — was on her way to a conference in Chicago and the train was one way to avoid the big city’s high parking fees.
