SmartTrack proceeding regardless of Metrolinx’s new ‘market driven’ approach to stations, Toronto mayor’s office says

Mayor John Tory’s office is offering assurances his SmartTrack plan is still on track, despite a new approach from the province that would rely on deals with the private sector to get it built, instead of using public funds.

SmartTrack, which the mayor pitched during his successful 2014 campaign, is heavily dependent on a wider expansion of GO Transit service planned by the provincial government.
