HALIFAX — Although Cathy Scott was going to originally ask the Halifax County Board of Commissioners to apply for funding for the Amtrak project in Weldon, the N.C. Department of Transportation has stepped in.
Scott, executive director of the Halifax County Economic Development Commission, said NCDOT has a freight and logistic improvements project, which was originally separate from the Weldon passenger rail project.
