Glenview, Illinois Trustees Add Additional $105,000 Toward Railroad Fight

Glenview village trustees appropriated an additional $105,000 at Tuesday’s (Jan. 15) village board meeting toward their fight against a proposed railroad track for freight trains in the village.

Village officials, their consultants, and Illinois Dept. of Transportation officials with their rail study consultants, are set to meet next week to look at alternatives to the proposed holding track. The two-mile track between West Lake Avenue and Willow Road, which would be used to hold freight coming from the Bensenville Rail Yard, could join several other sections of new holding tracks also proposed in the North suburbs including Northbrook, Deerfield, Lake Forest and Bannockburn.
