U.S., Massachusetts: Federal money to be used for Worcester’s Union Station platform project

WORCESTER — The Worcester Redevelopment Authority board voted Friday to authorize the use of $2.62 million in Federal Transit Administration funding for elements of the planned center island platform project at Union Station.

Peter Dunn, chief executive officer of the WRA and the city’s chief development officer, said the funding will be used for the demolition of the existing passenger platform at Union Station and subsequent upgrades to the plaza deck beneath it.
