U.S., Central Florida: I-Drive Chamber ‘strongly opposes’ future Brightline corridor. Here’s why.

The International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce wants local government to consider an alignment that will bring the Brightline high-speed rail system to the tourist corridor.

Chamber officials in a Nov. 20 letter to Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings cited strong opposition to Brightline’s proposed State Road 417 route connecting Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World Resort and eventually Tampa — bypassing International Drive. The chamber prefers that a State Road 528 corridor route is explored, thus bringing the rail system closer to the Orange County Convention Center and the surrounding businesses, I-Drive Chamber President Maria Triscari told Orlando Business Journal.
