Washington: House kicks off infrastructure work with all-day hearing

House lawmakers took the first public step toward an infrastructure package with a hearing that lasted more than six hours and featured optimism, worry and an appearance from former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.

The Green New Deal stirred up debate about high-speed rail and air travel, while also calling for investments in EVs and transit. It’s nonbinding, but will likely reverberate through transportation policymaking this Congress.
