Trying to open the Gateway

TRYING TO OPEN THE GATEWAY: Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) made good on his vow to put in some face time with the president and argue for Gateway federal funding. He sat two seats to the right of President Donald Trump at the Friends of Ireland luncheon in the Capitol Thursday (just hours after holding court at the Trump Hotel, per POLITICO Playbook) and confirmed to reporters that they spoke about the $900 million King wants in the omnibus bill for the project — but that’s about it. “He listened to everything I had to say, the importance of the project to New York, New Jersey and the Northeast … and that I wouldn’t be able to vote for the omnibus if it was not in there,” King said. “That’s all I can say now.”
