Despite its impressive name Miami Central Station is much smaller than Penn Station in New York, a hub for Amtrak, the largest intercity passenger rail service in the United States. In fact, Miami Central has only two platforms with three tracks and is about the size of the typical suburban station on the Long Island Railroad or Metro-North, but gosh darn, it’s much nicer. In fact, for anyone who has ridden much on Amtrak, Brightline, which started service in South Florida earlier this year, is much more along what you would find in Europe, and in some ways even a bit nicer, starting with its stations.
