WEST PALM BEACH — Virgin Trains USA plans to replace the St. Lucie River bridge, the decaying freight bridge that has been a sore spot in negotiations for years with the local community as it prepares for the higher-speed passenger railroad.
The unexpected announcement Friday comes as Virgin Trains, formerly Brightline, begins to prepare construction locally on its intercity rail service between Miami and Orlando.
