Site plan approved for Martinsburg, West Virginia Amtrak station upgrades

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Martinsburg Planning Commission approved a site plan Wednesday night for the construction of a new boarding platform at the Caperton Train Station and other improvements proposed by Amtrak.

The project involves the removal of an existing platform, installation of “intertrack” fencing and construction of a concrete platform 8 inches above the top of the rail to serve Amtrak’s Capitol Limited eastbound and westbound trains, according to documents filed with the city planning department.
